{"id":121,"date":"2020-07-29T20:43:49","date_gmt":"2020-07-30T03:43:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/connectedgovcom.wordpress.com\/?page_id=121"},"modified":"2025-01-12T15:38:17","modified_gmt":"2025-01-12T15:38:17","slug":"gtfs-adoption-in-california","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/connectedgov.studentorg.berkeley.edu\/index.php\/gtfs-adoption-in-california\/","title":{"rendered":"GTFS Adoption in California"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:1em\">Developed in 2005, the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/General_Transit_Feed_Specification\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">General Transit Feed Specification<\/a> (GTFS)\u00a0is\u00a0making transit trip\u00a0planning easier\u00a0by allowing public transportation\u00a0agencies\u00a0to share transit\u00a0schedules in\u00a0an\u00a0electronic\u00a0format\u00a0that\u00a0can\u00a0be\u00a0used\u00a0by\u00a0a\u00a0variety\u00a0of\u00a0trip-planning applications, such as Google Maps. The GTFS can\u00a0be\u00a0used\u00a0to\u00a0share\u00a0static\u00a0transit\u00a0schedules\u00a0(GTFS-s)\u00a0or\u00a0provide\u00a0real-time\u00a0information\u00a0on\u00a0transit\u00a0vehicle\u00a0arrivals\u00a0and departures\u00a0(GTFS-r). As a part of this project, we have collected data on the adoption and publication of both types of GTFS data by transit agencies in California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:1em\">The reports and maps below display and analyze our data on the adoption of both types of feeds.
